To readers,

Some of my readers asked me few questions, such as,

Why do I pay almost all attention to Russia and write very little so far about Ukraine? Why do I pay special attention to the political decisions that were taken by the Russian Prime Minister Yevgeniy Primakov, when Vladimir Putin appeared in Moscow and got his first job in the Kremlin, though these decisions were not directly connected to Ukraine? What was the impact of the political turn made in late 1990-s by Primakov and Putin on the Russian – Ukrainian relations?

Responding to these questions, I would like to note that until the end of the 1990s, the processes that took place in all post-Soviet states were very similar. By writing about the processes that were going in Russia, I describe the problems that were facing all the republics of the former USSR, including Ukraine.

Until 2008, it seemed that the system of “matryoshka” created in Russia by Vladimir Putin in early 2000-s, was doing what it was expected.

Putin didn’t bring down the system created under Boris Yeltsin, though that system showed its inability to survive. Inside the system of 1990-s, Putin created a new internal subsystem, “deep state”, which developed and functioned independently of the external system. That new subsystem developed using the resources and reserves of the whole country, slowly transforming from inside and creating a new Russia.                  

The external “matryoshka” that Putin inherited from Yeltsin was left in the hands and under control of the groups and clans that ruled Russia in 1990s, of those who agreed to Vladimir Putin’s term: “Do what you want, but do not create problems for the Kremlin.”

Матрица Байдена. Что стоит за поездкой Байдена в Европу?

Июнь 2021 года стал одним из самых насыщенных политическими событиями месяцев последних десятилетий.

После поездки Джо Байдена в Европу, его встреч с лидерами G-7 в Англии, ЕС и НАТО в Брюсселе и с Владимиром Путиным в Швейцарии политологи и журналисты должны прекратить болтовню о «старом и сонном Байдене», о «гнусных клинтонитах» и «глобалистах», которые управляются клубами по интересам, сексуальным предпочтениям и размерам капитала, а также рассуждения о том, как Путин и Байден будут торговать Украиной или еще чем-то и другие подобные рассуждения, которыми были забиты СМИ…

Даже самые слепые и тупые наконец-то почувствовали, если еще не поняли, что в мире происходят процессы, которые изменяют качественно не только мировую экономику, но и всю систему международных связей и взаимодействий, в том числе идеологические основы политики, а также общественно-политические системы внутри наиболее передовых стран мира.

Вызваны эти процессы двумя обстоятельствами: ускорением перехода значительного количества стран на новый уровень технологического развития, так называемый четвертый технологический уклад, и угрозой небывалого масштаба финансового и экономического кризиса.

Russian Matryoshka at the Winter Olympics in Sochi

In 1196-2004, Vladimir Putin managed to create a state system in Russia that can be compared to a “Russian matryoshka”, a Russian wooden toy in the form of a painted doll, inside which there are smaller dolls like it.

A sub-system was created inside the state in secret mode, which was subordinate to a narrow group of people, which included Putin’s closest and trusted friends, as well as specialists from the military-industrial complex and special services who managed to survive the collapse of the 1990s and keep the most important developments of the Soviet scientists in the field of military technology.

This subsystem was hidden by the outer shell, which was Russia, created in the 1990s under Boris Yeltsin. Putin barely touched this shell, giving it control to clans, parties and business groups that had captured Russia before Putin came to the Kremlin, but agreed to play by his rules.

Russia – Ukraine: War or Peace

In mid-April, it seemed that a war between Russia and Ukraine was quite likely, and it was possible that the world was closer to a new major military conflict in Europe than it looked from the West.

The reason for underestimating the threat was that Washington, London, Paris and Berlin did not evaluate properly the actions of not only Vladimir Putin, but also Vladimir Zelensky. The inaccurate assessment of plans and actions of the Moscow Kremlin and the office on Bankovaya Street in Kiev, where the Administration of the Ukrainian President is located, increases the likelihood of conflict in near future.

To better understand the motives of Moscow and Kiev and to predict their actions in near future, it is necessary to analyze the bearings of Putin’s Russia and modern Ukraine.

Let’s start from the Moscow Kremlin.
